A perspective from the opposite extreme at the footbridge where I shot ‘The Veins Of Madrid: M-607 Highway’
This footbridge, that is currently located on the road to Colmenar Viejo, near the Hospital Ramón y Cajal, was one of the several parts of a covered footbridge during the Football World Cup 1982, that joined the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium with the Exhibitions and Congress Pavilion, where were sited the press services, across the Castellana Street.
At the end of the championship, the footbridge was dismantled into several parts and one of them was installed on the M-607 highway, in order to facilitate the pedestrian access between the ‘Barrio del Pilar’ and the Ramón y Cajal Hospital. This was inaugurated during an special event by the mayor of Madrid, D. Enrique Tierno Galván.
